Important Information
This time of uncertainty and social distancing can be tough of us. The LHBC Health & Wellness Ministry wants to encourage all to continue to embrace facts over fear, and provide you with resources to help answer questions you may have regarding the novel coronavirus, COVID-19.
As Colorado moves to a “Safer-at-Home” model, the leadership at Living Hope/Esperanza Viva have decided that through the month of May we will continue to cancel all activities that occur at the church building. Our Sunday services and some mid-week Bible studies have been moved to an online format.
Answers to a couple of common questions:
Why are the numbers of COVID- 19 cases increasing so quickly in the USA? :
The number of cases of COVID-19 being reported in the United States is rising due to increased laboratory testing and reporting across the country. The growing number of cases in part reflects the rapid spread of COVID-19 as many U.S. states and territories experience community spread.
As of 5/8 the cases in Colorado are : 18,827 confirmed cases,96,772 people tested, 3,600 people hospitalized
Will the virus go away in summertime?:
It is not yet known whether weather and temperature impact the spread of COVID-19. Some other viruses, like the common cold and flu, spread more during cold weather months but that does not mean it is impossible to become sick with these viruses during other months.
We understand It’s hard to be away from friends & loved ones & it may be confusing to understand how social distancing relates to prevention of COVID-19.
To help with understanding why social distancing is important, please watch the video below, as Dr. Porter so elegantly describes the risks of spreading COVID-19 & why we each can help by distancing: https://youtu.be/fL-H0h9Pi_A
Remember, even though we have state “shelter in place orders” (which means we must stay at home unless otherwise approved ) it is important to make sure we take care of ourselves. Although the confusion & misinformation from the White House, & media outlets do not help, please do not mistake the message of the need to take appropriate precautions. Please reach out to a healthcare provider you trust to answer your questions. Remember our faith is in Christ & II Timothy 1:7 reminds us that God has not given us a spirit of fear! Let’s continue being the light in the world, but from home!
Please stay home, abide by shelter in place mandates, wash your hands, stay safe.
